The first stage of the Haute Route leads from Chamonix to Argentiere (French translation - silver earth). Highlights include Lac Blanc, vistas of the Mer de Glace, and sweeping panoramas of the mountains bordering the Chamonix Valley, including the giant Mont Blanc. The route to Lac Blanc is part of a national park making it the busiest stage of the Haute Route.
